Wash & Care
Washing and Drying - We don't believe in babying polyurethane fabrics around here. All of our diapers, whether they have "PUL" or not, may be washed on hot and dried on hot. We also believe in getting diapers really clean, so we recommend washing diapers, covers, and AIOs on your heavy-duty cycle. (This may cause diapers to wear out sooner, but we love using a diaper until it returns to the earth). Wash on a regular cycle and air dry if you'd like to try to minimize wear and tear. Use only 1/4th the recommended amount of detergent on the side of the container. A pre-rinse is only necessary if you wish - it can help minimize staining. A second rinse is recommended after the cycle is complete. Refrain from using bleach or fabric softeners on your diapering items. Lay clean, wet diapers or covers out in the sun to bleach stains out naturally. We love essential oils around here, and recommend putting 2 - 3 drops of lavender oil in your wash load to freshen and help disinfect.
Very Basic All-in-One Diapers - The 100% cotton birdseye inner fabrics of these trim AIOs gets thirstier with every wash. AIOs can be washed with your other diapers. Secure fold-back laundry tabs before laundering to prevent the hook tabs snagging other items. The long Super Boosters may be folded in half and laid in the diaper to boost absorbency. If you have a boy, you may want to fold it in thirds and place it towards the front. The outer waterproof "PUL" fabric is cut wider than the cotton through the legs to help it roll inward to prevent leaks. After putting the diaper on your child, lift their legs and make sure the cotton is all inside. If some is sticking out - roll it inward with your finger.
Very Baby Diapers & Simply Nights - Whether you've chosen just sherpa knit terry or opted for a hemp soaker - Very Baby diapers will reach their optimal absorbency after a few uses and washes. We only use the highest quality snaps on our diapers - there is no need to unsnap the snap in soakers from the diaper body shell. Secure fold-back laundry tabs before laundering if you've selected Aplix® closures.
Snug Wrap Diaper Covers - Bound in soft fold-over elastic, these covers can be washed with your other diapering items. Please make sure that all hook and loop tabs are securely fastened to fold back laundry tabs. We use a fold over elastic binding which resists pilling and snagging in the wash. You can dry these in the dryer or hang dry if you wish. Snug Wrap covers fit snugly around baby. You can trifold a prefold and just lay it in the cover to use without pins. You may experience some bunching if you use this method on a very active toddler. If using prefolds with the Side Snap covers, you will need to secure them with pins or a snappi as the fit of the Side Snap covers is a bit more loose.
